Mumbai Indians team under Harbhajan the worst with no spirit of game
The table toppers usually win the matches with some great display of the game, but one team which does many things differently and manage to get to the top is Mumbai Indians. They didn’t cheat anywhere, everything is noticed by the cameras, but what we see is the lack of sportive spirit in the team. They play to win, just win it with aggression. There is no respect amongst the players, towards the team playing opposite to them, or towards the umpire too.
Ambati Rayudu and Harshal Patel spat
The latest spat between the Mumbai batsman Ambati Rayudu and the Bangalore bowler Harshal Patel is a classic example of the same. Rayudu used obscene and abusive language towards Harshal Patel after Mumbai won the match in the last over against Bangalore, and Patel too reacted to that. Harshal Patel was fined 25% of the match earnings while Rayudu was fined 100% of the fee for the same. Winning a match always brings out emotions, but targeting players and using abusive language towards them is no heroism.
Munaf Patel, Harbhajan and the umpires
Lately the umpires haven’t got any respect from the players, and the Munaf Patel dissent towards the umpire proved it. In the match against Deccan Chargers, Kumara Sangakkara’s dismissal was argued with the umpire and it was argued in a way that the umpires had to silently listen to Munaf and Harbhajan shout and point out fingers.
What the umpires did was not refer the 3rd umpire for the dismissal, and if asked in a polite manner, they would have done that but Munaf showed all the aggression and showed dissent towards him. He was fined 25% of the match fee and Harbhajan was warned.
Munaf, again! Against Nitin Saini
Munaf Patel was hit for two boundaries by the top order batsman of Kings XI Punjab, Nitin Saini. Talking with the ball is one fair thing, but with the words is the worst thing. Munaf does the latter more often, and he showed gestures which were inappropriate and that cost him 50% of the match fee.
Rohit Sharma kicking the stumps
The Indian Cricket team batsman was reprimanded after he kicked the stumps when his team lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by the big margin of 9 wickets.
Harbhajan Singh – Does he deserve to be a captain?
Sachin Tendulkar gave the responsibility to Harbhajan Singh, who was quite popular in the IPL for slapping Sreesanth earlier, and his aggression and verbal gestures are not reduced any day. It is the responsibility of the captain to keep the game under the good spirits and calm the players down during the game. But Harbhajan Singh joins hands with the player who has to calm down there.
Bhajji was fined $20000 for maintaining a slow over-rate too and this is another question towards his captaincy!
For me, it would be the worst day to see Mumbai Indians win the trophy of IPL 5 if at all they do, because if the same had happened under the hands of Sachin Tendulkar or someone else the excitement and happiness would have been different, but with Harbhajan its undeserving.
