Royal Challengers Bangalore out of IPL 2012, Chennai qualify for Playoffs
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their last league match, which was a must-win against the Deccan Chargers, and are out of the IPL 2012 not able to qualify for the playoffs, and thus Chennai Super Kings entered the playoffs being lucky and thankfully due to the win by Deccan Chargers.
After being able to restrict Deccan Chargers to a total of 132 runs, Bangalore fought hard but could manage getting just 123 runs and losing the game to Deccan by 9 runs and finally getting out of the tournament. After the hitting by JP Duminy which took Deccan Chargers to that score, it was Dale Steyn who made the batsmen suffer, giving away just 8 runs off his 4 overs and claiming 3 wickets.

Hyderabad team finally could move to a position over Pune Warriors India and ended with the 8th position which they would be happy with, having fought with some tough time for the opponents, and eliminating both Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore by thrashing their chances of entering the playoffs.
Batting first, Deccan Chargers lost Shikhar Dhawan when no one but Chris Gayle noticed the bails falling after Zaheer Khan’s delivery kissed it slightly to dislodge the bail. The wickets kept falling regularly, and by the end of 15 overs, Chargers could score just 67 runs losing 4 wickets when JP Duminy had dropped the anchor and started hitting the big ones. In the over bowled by Muttaiah Muralidharan, Duminy hit three sixes and this accelerated the scoring. Duminy was out for 74 runs off 53 balls.
During the chase, Bangalore were in control in the first over bowled by Dale Steyn, but Chris Gayle hammered MS Gony for two sixes and three fours in one over and brought Bangalore in a good control. The next over bowled by Steyn showed a bouncer to Gayle followed by a stunner which went to a bottom edge and then hit the stumps. Soon after that, Dilshan too was sent to the pavilion by the seamer Steyn.
Amit Mishra continued to maintain his good form and scalped AB de Villiers and Mayank Agarwal in his second over. Virat Kohli and Saurabh Tiwary tried their best to take the team away with a match-winning score but the wicket of Kohli in the 16th over was the turning point and the scoring went down after this.
Steyn was left with an over and he took out Zaheer Khan, and in the last over of the match, Ashish Reddy bowled in control and the bad timing by the batsmen got him two wickets, both caught at long-on. Deccan pulled off a victory on time to help Chennai go through to the playoffs.
- Deccan Chargers 132/7 (20/20 ov)
- RCB 123/9 (20.0/20 ov)
