Sehwag confirms he asked for rest due to Injury, not dropped

Virender Sehwag was rested in the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2012 and although there were reports that he was dropped and not rested, Kris Srikkanth showed his aggression to the reporters, and now Sehwag himself confirmed that he is suffering from injuries and had opted to take rest, and the board has nothing to do with the dropping from the squad.

Virender Sehwag Shoulder Injury

“My injury is open for everyone to see. I have never hidden my injury before, or fitness problems. Even my shoulder operation was planned after consulting the then coach Gary Kirsten and skipper MS Dhoni,” Sehwag was quoted saying by MiD DAY.

Just before the national committee meeting in Mumbai for the selection of the squad, the team physio Evan Speechly submitted a fitness report which had said that both Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan need to be rested for the upcoming Asia Cup 2012 series which starts from March 11th 2012.
