In the rankings for Test batsmen, West Indies’ Shivnarine Chanderpaul extended his advantage over South Africa’s AB de Villiers after scores of of 87 not out and 91 in the defeat to England, for whom Ian Bell, in 17th, and Andrew Strauss, in 27th, have climbed the rankings.
England had won the first test against West Indies and currently that is the only test series going on. England is currently no. 1 in the test team rankings and would have to win the series against West Indies to maintain the position, and even a series draw would take them to no. 2 position.
