Teams qualified for the Playoffs of the IPL 5 2012 Season

The IPL 2012 league matches end today, and it was a tough mid-table competition between the various teams trying to make it to the top 4 of the points table and enter the playoffs of the IPL 5 season. Two teams which made it very easily to the top positions are Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders who are at no. 1 and 2 positions. The third and fourth positions were going to be decided today, as it was Mumbai Indians leading with 18 points and at 3rd place and it was a must-win game for Royal Challengers Bangalore if they had to qualify.

If Deccan Chargers won the match against Bangalore, it would have been Chennai Super Kings qualifying based on the run-rate. Deccan did that and Royal Challengers Bangalore are out of the tournament, losing to Deccan Chargers in their last league match.

Here are the 4 teams qualified for the playoffs for the IPL 5 season:
Delhi Daredevils – 22 points
Kolkata Knight Riders – 21 points
Mumbai Indians – 18 points with 1 match remaining
Chennai Super Kings – 17 points
