TP Sudhindra, who is caught fixing matches for the various tournaments, including the IPL had dealt with the India TV reporters, who introduced themselves to him as the Sports Management Company agents and Sudhindra was seen talking to them about bowling no-ball and charging prices between Rs. 20000 and Rs. 50000 for a single no-ball.
Here is the transcript of the same:
Sudhindra: I hope this will be for one match only.
Reporter: You will have to do this for only one in 15 to 20 matches.
Sudhindra: No problem.
Reporter: It could be a match at any level.
Sudhindra: Okay.
Reporter: Whether it is the IPL, Ranji Trophy or Indore Premier League.
Sudhindra: Okay.
Reporter: We are not asking you to fix the entire match but only a spot. Are you okay with spot-fixing?
Sudhindra: Okay.
Reporter: I’ll give you Rs. 5,000. What is your price?
Sudhindra: For that tournament, Rs. 40,000.
Reporter: Rs. 40,000 for one ball – be it a no-ball, wide or bouncer.
In a meeting later on, Sudhindra wanted to increase the pay and he asked for Rs. 50000 for the same delivery to be bowled as a no-ball, saying that it is not about bowling like that but its about the standard of the tournament and he would charge Rs. 50000 for a single no-ball and laughing, he said the reporters that they could earn that money easily. He took the reporters as bookies and thought they could earn the money they spend easily, and so he charged high for the same.
He later on bowled the no-ball with at least a feet of length ahead of the crease in a local tournament to prove that he would be doing the same in the IPL too. In the IPL match for Deccan Chargers, he had given 46 runs from the 4 overs against Chennai Super Kings and what alarmed everyone was the two consecutive wide balls bowled by him.
The IPL spot-fixing case is being investigated by the government of IPL and BCCI, and they have promised to take strictest action against the players if they are found guilty of being involved in spot-fixing. Apart from TP Sudhindra, its Mohnish Mishra who fixed his position in the team and earned more than 1 crore as black money.
